Workspace
The workspace is your story's command centre — where you organise structure and see the big picture.
Structure
Codiko organises your story as Books → Chapters → Scenes. A project can have multiple books (for series), each with chapters, and each chapter with one or more scenes. Scenes are where the actual writing happens.
Board View
The board view is a kanban-style layout designed for planning and structuring your story — especially useful in the early stages. Scenes are draggable cards that can be reordered within a chapter or moved between chapters. Each chapter shows its summary, and you can expand cards to see scene synopses, scene types, and status at a glance. Use it to block out chapters, plan your outline, and organise your story beats.
Overview
The overview gives you a compact, data-rich view of your entire manuscript. Scene tiles are colour-coded by type (action, dialogue, exposition, etc.), with word counts, status indicators, and a completion percentage for each book. Use it to check pacing, spot structural imbalances, and track progress as you approach publication.
Context Sidebar
Click a book, chapter, or scene in the workspace to open its details in the context sidebar. Here you can edit:
- Title and synopsis
- Status (draft, revision, final, etc.)
- POV character and location
- Timeline event linking
- Associated characters, items, and tags
Timeline Panel
The resizable timeline panel at the bottom of the workspace shows your story's timeline. See Timeline for details.
